January
September 2011 we bought a new place. I honestly didn't care too much for it at first, but after we put a little TLC into it it turned into home. We were fully moved in right on New Years Eve. We moved into one amazing ward. I think the first Sunday we were there they announced a shooting day. Chad and I looked at each other and smiled. We knew we were at home.
I don't have any pics so moving on..........
February
One of my BFF's from my Tucson days got married on Valentines Day in WA. It was a beautiful day, full of lots of rain and awesome people. I was so grateful I was able to be a bridesmaid and be around people that meant so much to me. Chad had to stay back at the home front and work. I missed his guts but I am also grateful for a supportive husband who was "cool" with me going and hanging out with the ladies for a week. The wedding was on a Tuesday and the reception was on Saturday. Myself and my AZ amigas went on a few adventures during the week......
I love these ladies!
So, I met Donelda in my Tucson singles ward. I had actually been there for quite a while and no one really talked to me. I had a couple of awesome guy friends that I would go hiking with and do random outdoorsy things with, but other then that I was pretty much a recluse in my ward. Not totally on purpose but anyway.
Then one day this bold, blonde, babe sat by me in relief society and asked me my name...(instant friends). We also found out that we were born on the same day and we both love guns. She introduced me to Melissa and thus began a boat load of adventures.....
Then there was my travel buddy....
Fact: The Canadian (aka Kim) and I get stressed out when we have to leave our horses. We met at a very eventful time in our lives, while training horses at one of the largest Arabian Horse farms in the US. We lived together, we played together and almost died together (numerous times).
There were many days when I would be walking to retrieve a horse to work with, and I would hear "Time for your beating Farr!"
This beauty would jump out of nowhere and the wrestling match would commence. I have learned to be more aware of my surroundings because of her. :) She is awesome with horses and I love her guts!
Oh and beautiful Melissa.... Our time was short with this sweet heart. She had to leave the night of the wedding to go be the good mom that she is. She is dedicated and loves her babies! Never a dull moment with this hott mama around!
Like I said earlier. I love these ladies. I miss them and wish I could spend more time with them.
March
Chad and I had been asked by our old Stake in Mesa to represent them in The Centennial Ride to Winslow this month. Each Stake across AZ was supposed to have 1-2 riders go and represent. The plan was to ride 25 miles of the old Honey Moon/ Mormon Trail into Winslow. The Stakes were also asked to make a banner to represent themselves, and the riders were to carry them or show them off as they rode into Winslow.
We arrived late because of problems with our trailer lights, but we did catch.
I don't care what people say. I love Arizona. I love the desert and the forest all the same. It has it's own beauty and the people are equally beautiful and amazing.
Riding into Winslow.
Riley the "good sport". He just had ankle surgery but was our navigator.
And Andrew...well, His mom loves him.
One of the young women from our old stake made our flag. She really did a wonderful job. I was honored to carry a flag with the temple on it. After all, we just rode part of the Mormon/Honeymoon trail and the temple was something that the pioneers worked hard for. It was a very special tribute to them. We had a great time and would love to do it again.
April
The beginning of a rough time. Taz had gotten injured somehow. I thought he had been getting better but on my birthday I got the call and Chad was sent a video of Taz trying to walk. I saw the video and my heart died. I knew it wouldn't be long.....
A few days later I was sent another video and Taz was walking fine... What the heck?!
Also my best friend is having a baby! Lorin you rascal you!
Lisa had her baby shower at the end of April. This girl is amazing. Such a trooper. She was running through probably 90% of her pregnancy. I seriously hope I can be as awesome as her.
She has been one awesome friend and always gives the best advice. She is far more fashionable then I will ever be and will be(and is) the greatest mom ever.
I miss our cruises Lisa and there is no one I would rather pretend I was horse with then you.! One of my heroes, a beautiful woman inside and out!
The afghan I made for her. I think I need a bit more practice.
May
Denny the wonder horse....
I'm not sure how to shorten this story but I will do the best I can since I have a few more months to cover.
Chad, Riley and I were out working cows one day on the P<3. Riley was once again our driver because he was still recovering from ankle surgery. We started having some problems with some cows. One in particular. She jumped a 4-5ft metal pipe corral and was gone. Chad and I hopped on our faithful steeds and went after her.
Denny is young (3yrs at the time) and so Chad and I switched mounts. He roped the cow off of Chase, held her and told me to ride back and fetch Riley and have him bring the trailer so we could haul the cow back. Denny and I took off and due to a few of the things that had already happened I prayed aloud that we would all be safe, horses and cows included.
We made it to Riley and he hauled us back to Chad. I was so proud of Chase. He held that cow like a champ. After much struggling to get the cow in the trailer, we finally decided to just let her go. She had resisted and pulled against us till she fell to the ground. We didn't want to injure her or her unborn calf so Chad pulled the ropes off and we started getting our things together to leave.
I threw Denny's reins over his neck and had him load into the open, stock trailer and made my way toward Chase. I stopped to pick up a rope on my way when I heard Chad and Riley yelling at me to get out of the way. I turned to see the cow running toward me with lowered head and in the corner of my eye I see Denny run backwards out of the trailer. As far as I knew he was long gone.
At this moment all of us were exhausted. It had been a long day, nothing seemed to be going right, the cow was going to eat me, and Denny just took off. Awesome. Now we were going to have to run a horse down after we get out of this mess.
I barely got out of the way. She nicked the outside of my upper thigh and was turning around to come back and get me when Chad started hollering and throwing ropes at her to distract her. She was after all of us now.
Riley began to yell "Woo Denny! Get her Denny!"
Now I don't think it was all just the horse. In fact I think "Higher Powers" were involved this day. I think the horse was just the messenger. I prayed more then once, each time Denny was there :). We needed help, and we couldn't do it alone.
Riley was recovering and working on getting his mission papers in and being plowed over by a cow would not have helped him at all. Many of the situations we were in that day turned a little scary and Denny turned out to be our guardian angel.
We were and are blessed. This horse has been so amazing in so many ways. He really earned his treats this day and we love him.
BTW, none of the pics I have are from that day. No time for cameras on a day like that :)
June
We welcomed Noah to the family and Cody came home.
Taz was still not doing good. We were having problems getting the vet to come look at him, among other things. We were pretty much at the conclusion that Taz wouldn't be with us much longer. I knew I was going to be needing a new horse too. I hated thinking about it but Taz didn't have much time left and Chase was getting older......
So Chad got me Noah Blue
Off the track racehorse. Similar lines as Taz, awesome conformation and very smart. He's beautiful. No doubt about it.
You can't replace horses and Noah isn't a replacement horse. I think the horses in our lives carve us into the horsemen/women that we are today. They mold us and will always hold special places in our hearts.
Then after two years Elder Pulsipher returned home from his mission in Chile. It's exciting getting to see your siblings return home from their missions.
I remember watching my brothers leave and then being there when they got back after two years.
I know Chad and his family were just as excited to see Cody return home.
I know how much Chad loves his siblings. He would do anything he could for each of them.
Notice the arrow pointing at Riley?
Pointing at him again! :) This guy!
July
O Taz
We finally decided to just do it in July. He wasn't getting better so we put him down. He's not hurting anymore, but I miss my friend. Chad was awesome through it all. Even now when I have hard days Chad is understanding.
He lost his best friend/ horse when he was younger. Her name was Spook.
My mom put a plaque over the place where my dog is buried.
It says, "If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again."
I can't wait to see all of those that I love again. It will be on hell of a reunion.
Until then, Hank, Taz, and Du, give grandma Fairbanks and grandpa Farr a good ride or two! Miss you Kenzie. :)
August
Happy 2 Year Anniversary to us! Actually I woke up that morning to get ready for work and my eye was goopy and stuck together. I knew that terrible feeling. Pink Eye! Totally ruined my weekend. Chad bought me a purple rope and we watched movies all day. He loves me!
September
Well we just rode a lot. Chad got to rope and.....
Our truck tire went flying off. O F F off. We were just driving along. Minding our own business and boom, there it went. It almost hit a semi that was driving towards us and when we finally stopped both of us couldn't help but feel lucky and blessed that nothing worse happened.
I don't know how many people know, but Chad and I have been married 2.5yrs. We have spent almost everyone of our weekends driving to Holbrook and St Johns to help, family, friends and spend time with our animals. Our trips have been good and safe.
Before everyone of our trips we pray....it works folks. I'll tell you what. Try it sometime.
Also this month, Riley left on his mission! He was called to ?, Mexico mission. Chad can spell it. Chad went to the Mexico City, Mexico mission.
Just the way my brothers better miss me.....
O and Chad and I went to Navajo Co Fair and Rodeo!
We met up with some friends both nights. I love this rodeo. Seriously the best rodeo ever!
October
Chad has worked nights the majority of our married career so we really didn't do much for Halloween. I dressed up as Andrew for a little while.
